Hire a Zodiac

Today, the brand is present in fifty countries around the world. Inventor of the semi-rigid boat, Zodiac is the brand that has succeeded in developing robust, high-performance inflatable boats, ideal for activities such as diving, fishing and underwater hunting.  Avant-garde and innovative, Zodiacs are at the origin of the development of boating. The concept of removable floats allows for easy replacement of stern tubes. The know-how of their products lies in the hull, with a precise process leading to real rigidity.  Not to mention the float, which is manufactured using thermobanding to guarantee durability and safety. In addition, the company is one of the few manufacturers to submit its boats to numerous navigation tests in the most extreme conditions. Finally, it also ensures a real lightness of its boats, facilitating their launching. Hire a boat with SamBoat

History of the brand

Zodiac is a French company founded in 1896 and specialized in the design of inflatable and semi-rigid boats. In 120 years, the brand has diversified a lot. The brand is the result of two companies: Union Aéronautique de France and Société Mallet, Mélandri et de Pitray created by Maurice Mallet, Henry de la Vaulx and their partners. In 1908, it was renamed 'Société française des ballons dirigeables et d'aviation' (French Airship and Aviation Company), intended for people wishing to have an aerostat or for companies wishing to advertise balloons.

Some time later, the company changed its name to "Société française des ballons dirigeables et d'aviation Zodiac" and became Société Zodiac two years later. In the 1930s, one of its engineers, Pierre Debroutelle, invented the first prototypes of inflatable boats for the French navy, which was looking for easy and innovative solutions for military transport. From 1934 onwards, the term Zodiac was commonly used to designate inflatable boats. But the arrival of World War I forced the company to stop manufacturing airplanes, causing financial problems. This transition from aeronautics to maritime activity earned it an international reputation.

The different ranges of boats

  •  Medline (including Medline 850, Medline 660 and Medline 580) - Ideal for long sea trips, the Medline features comfortable seating, large sunbeds,
  • Pro (including New Pro and Pro) - whether you're into diving, fishing or just want to cruise the coastline with your RIB, this range adapts to your desires! Set up your program and compose the boat's layout according to your needs.
