What a fantastic week. “Blue Sky” is a stunning vessel and is a credit to her German owner and the Sunturist Team in Zadar that look after her. Everything that was booked and ordered was present on the vessel including the largest bathing towels I have ever seen - well worth the small extra charge ! The Sunturist 24Hr call-out phone was answered immediately early one morning when I rang it to check up on the operation of the vessels pumps following heavy overnight rain. Very economical 8 litres/ h diesel consumption on relaxed passage making at 6.5 knots. We will be back. Thanks to Samboat and Sunturist charters who I highly recommend.

From start to finish this was a great hire experience. Tonci replied quickly and the arrangements for were very clear and everything went very smoothly. The boat was extremely well presented and maintained. Everything worked perfectly. Extras such as an ice box with frozen blocks, Bluetooth speaker and snorkel masks were much appreciated. Tonci provided some great locations to visit and to have lunch. Returning the boat was simple. We refuelled and paid only for the fuel used and handed the boat back. I would highly recommend hiring from Tonci.

Some of the marinas are expensive for overnighting on them every night. Had hoped to go on a swing buoy in a mooring field for a couple of nights, however the weather conspired against us. All marinas have good facilities. Biograd na Maru is a nice town with a big marina.

Renting a Boat in Zadar

Zadar is a less popular holiday destination than some other Croatian cities such as Split, but a must-see destination. If you prefer to explore a calmer and less crowded city with unmatched architecture and long history, plan your next trip to Zadar. In the city, there are multitudes of churches and historic cathedrals, one of them being the St. Chrysogonus, a medieval basilica of the 12th century.

Moreover, Zadar provides an excellent starting point for an amazing sailing holiday as there are many beautiful natural spots to visit. Hire a boat in Zadar to discover the wonderful Croatian coast and get to explore the region. To get to Zadar you can hire a yacht in Sukosan and sail to this great city. There is no better way to discover Croatia than to hire a yacht in Dalmatia and explore its coastline. You can also hire a catamaran in Hvar and discover its beaches.

How much does it cost to hire a boat in Zadar?

The cost of boat hire in Zadar can fluctuate according to the season, like most boat hires in Croatia. When the demand is higher during the summer, expect to find the highest prices in July and August. However, the excellent Mediterranean climate makes it possible to sail from May to October when there are fewer tourists and the prices are slightly lower. If you plan to hire a yacht in Zadar, expect to pay around 100€/day for a sailboat and around 250€/day for a catamaran.

There is a much wider price range for motor boats, which will depend on the size and type of boat you rent. If you prefer to hire a motor boat for a day, define your project and the activities you would like to do during your trip and choose accordingly. From the wide selection, we guarantee that you will find the most ideal boat for your holiday in Zadar.

Boat availability in Zadar

The sailing season in Zadar runs from May to October, which is the same as anywhere else in Croatia. Due to that, there is a wide range of boats available for hire. Do I need a licence to hire a yacht in Zadar?

If you hire a boat in Zadar, you must follow the Croatian national regulations. In Croatia, there is a strict regulation about the need for a license. You must have a valid boating license and also a VHF radio license regardless of the type of boat you hire in Zadar.

However, don’t worry about the documents and having previous experience in sailing as there is an opportunity of renting with a skipper. If you want a stress-free holiday and to let an expert drive a boat, having a skipper is the best option. Additionally, a local skipper will know the area and will navigate you to explore the beautiful hidden spots and stunning bays around Zadar. This will make your whole experience unforgettable!
