I booked the boat with Ben for a company trip to Nice. The boat trip was well organised and meeting instructions and planning including the apertivs. Thank you Ben and the Team for a fantastic time Sejal
Enjoyed the trip from Antibes despite departure being delayed due to Port Authorities not granting permission to exit the port - meant we lost an hour. Went round to Cannes bay - swimming and used the 'tube' - great fun - tough on the arms! Went ashore for lunch. More swimming after. Regret not asking to go to an island as well. Also wish we had a go at driving the boat! - next time!

Not far from the Italian border, along the Bay of Angels and at the mouth of the Paillon is Nice, the jewel of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Nice is the largest city on the French Riviera and its port is conveniently located only a few miles from the airport, near the main tourist attractions. Approximately a day from Corsica by sailboat and 5 hours by motorboat, Nice is an ideal starting point for your cruises in the Mediterranean. Its plentiful amount of natural assets and Mediterranean climate make it a must-see destination when renting a boat on the French Riviera.
Enjoy a boat ride to admire the beauty of its mountains, turquoise waters, and pebble beaches. If you’re looking for an excuse to visit outside of the summer, Nice welcomes the largest carnival in France every winter, which happens to be one of the most famous in the world. For two weeks, several hundred thousand people come together to watch the show. Hire a catamaran in Nice and relax on the beautiful coast, or if you like sailing hire a sailboat and sail to Italy.
In Nice, the sailing season runs similarly to the rest of France. The boating season will usually start around April and run all the way through to October. Similar to most countries in Europe, the busiest months will be July and August, which will have the highest number of tourists and sailors. If you plan outside of these two months, you will still find favourable weather.
To estimate the price of boat hires in Nice, it will depend on the season as well as the type of boat you're looking to hire. For catamarans, you can expect to pay on average of 450€ per day with sailboats averaging a bit less at 350€. For motorboats, it is best to sort by the type of activity you wish to partake in. Some boats are better for exploring the coast and others for watersports. Either way, you'll find exactly what you are looking for with motorboats starting at 150€ a day.
If you are planning on hiring a yacht for a week, you will need to book your boat in advance. Due to the popularity of the region, most boats are already booked by March.
The license requirements in France are quite particular. For sailboats, no formal license is required but you will have to provide documentation of previous experience. You will have to provide a nautical CV which details your experience in regard to the previous boats you've captained and the waters in which you've sailed.
If you are renting a motorboat, you will need a coastal license if the boat is more powerful than 6hp. If you do not have the experience or want a stress-free vacation, hire a boat with a skipper!
When arriving in Nice, you'll feel the wonderful sensation of being in France while the Mediterranean wind hits you. The beautiful beach and iconic blue beach chairs will make it clear why this is a top destination worldwide. Get to know the culinary side of Nice as well as the vibrant street life before starting your boat trip. You'll feel the Italian influence right away in the local cuisine and the general feel of the streets. The great thing about the French Riviera is that all of the cities are unique and distinct in their own ways. If your itinerary spans a few days, we highly suggest sailing to Cannes to explore another side of the French Riviera. You can get to Nice if you hire a boat in Frejus and sail to this beautiful city.
A good idea would be to hire a boat in Monaco to sail to Antibes and enjoy the french riviera!
