Amazing day all round. Juan was great and looked after us. The boat was awesome. Hooked ourselves up to the onboard speakers and had the best time.
Absolutely fabulous day sailing with the lovely Maximo! He was attentive and very kind. The boat was lovely. They were very cautious and safety was key as on our day the waves were very high, they spoke to us about it before we departed and we decided we could go out, felt we were in very safe hands and over all a lovely day and experience. Would highly recommend x

Marbella is undoubtedly one of the best-known seaside resorts on the Costa del Sol lending itself as the ideal location to hire a boat. The region offers beautiful, modern infrastructures situated perfectly between the sea and mountains. On land, be sure to visit the old part of town that is representative of old Andalusian architecture next to a beautiful bay. While you’re there, you can have a taste of the local gastronomical delights that are unique to this region. This is not your ordinary commercial city; it’s a popular tourist destination with friendly people, fantastic cuisine, vibrant local culture, an old town feel, fine architecture, and wonderful year-long weather. Whether you’re on a solo trip, travelling as a couple, vacationing with your family, or on a group holiday, Marbella has plenty of things to keep you occupied every minute of your stay.
Marbella is known for its warm weather and the long coastline with sandy beaches offers the perfect setting for sailing. The region has exactly what you'd expect from the weather in the Mediterranean. The town enjoys warm sunshine for more than 320 days a year, yet it doesn’t feel as hot as the adjoining areas. That’s because the Sierra Blanca Mountains protect the city from becoming too hot during summer and too cold in winter. The gentle warm weather, even during the peak of summer, makes it the ideal summer holiday destination for most travellers to Europe.
Due to the typical Mediterranean weather, the best times are from April to October but beware of the heat. If you're looking for fewer tourists and more favourable weather, opt for September and October when you will be able to hire a sailboat in Marbella.
The price of renting a boat will depend on the time you would like to sail. For hires in the high season, an average price for a catamaran would be approximately 450€ with sailboats closer to 350€. When renting motorboats, the price will change greatly depending on the length, power and activity which you would like the boat for. To see the coast for one day, you can hire motorboats starting at as little as 150€ per day.
If you would like to hire a yacht in Marbella, the best advice would be to book as early as possible. Usually, for charters in the high season, you will have to start your search as early as November to ensure you find the boat that fits your project the best. Because of the demand for boats in the country in general, you shouldn't wait last minute to book any type of boat. For charters, you'll find most of the fleet already booked by April and on average more than 45% by early March. A great way to explore the area is to hire a catamaran in Marbella.
In Spain, there are certain cases where you will absolutely need a license to hire a boat. If you're renting a motorboat with more than 15hp and more than 4m in length, you will need to hold a valid license. When it comes to sailboats, you will need to hold a license if the boat is over 5m in size. In either case, if you're renting a bareboat, it will be mandatory to fill in your nautical CV. This will explain your previous experience in regard to what kind of boats you captained and which waters you sailed.
To reach Marbella, tourists must first land at the Malaga Airport that’s 52km from the town. The Malaga Airport serves around 10 million passengers each year, and as more and more tourists are visiting the region, the number is only set to rise. An alternative route to reach Marbella is via Gibraltar Airport, which is only 77km from the tourist destination.
From the Malaga Airport, you can take the regular bus service that runs to and from the city several times a day. On the contrary, after reaching Marbella, you can sail to Malaga and get to know the beautiful city at your own pace.
