Possibility to rent the boat "without a skipper" after a day at sea to validate the level of mastery, or with an "accompanist" (with half board or full board), or with a "professional skipper" (paid option).
"REBORN" is one of the last Chassiron 38s in perfect sailing condition, suitable for both coastal cruising and long-distance voyages across the oceans. Designed by Michel Joubert and built in 1979 by the renowned Richard shipyard, it is the 23rd in the series. I acquired this classic gem of French yachting in 2022 when it was named MAWII. A few months later, I began a complete renovation, including the hull, deck, standing and running rigging, interior, and the entire electrical and electronic system. After two years of effort and over 2,500 hours of work, a "rebirth" naturally came to mind—thus, MAWII became REBORN and was relaunched with great emotion on December 2, 2024.
Today, REBORN is available for charter, offering the joy of sailing on a classic yacht that is both powerful and safe at sea, while warm, spacious, and comfortable inside and on deck.
Starting from June 15, REBORN will be sailing along the southern Brittany coast between Pornic and Quiberon, taking you to Hoedic, Houat, Belle-Île-en-Mer, Noirmoutier, and more. Departures from La Roche-Bernard or Le Pouliguen.
While it retains all the attributes of a classic yacht—marine plywood deck, mahogany coachroof and cockpit, mahogany gunwales, handcrafted mahogany cabinetry, long keel—REBORN also boasts all the comfort and equipment of modern yachts: Wi-Fi, USB-C ports, electric toilet, microwave, mini-bar, suspended LED screen with Chromecast, ambient LED lighting, 220V outlet, 2500W inverter, hot water...
As an ocean cruiser, it is fully equipped with the latest navigation and safety gear: radar, AIS transceiver, autopilot, Garmin 3D depth sounder, fixed 25W VHF, Wi-Fi/NMEA2000 network, Glomex 4G antenna, Iridium satellite phone, EPIRB beacon, and life raft.
For sailing, REBORN is now rigged as a cutter with a furling genoa, furling staysail, full-batten mainsail with three reefing points and lazy bag, and a Code 0 on a furler.
At anchor, its autonomy is ensured by 480 watts of solar panels and two 280Ah lithium batteries, along with a watermaker. The inventory also includes a paddleboard, dinghy, snorkeling and fishing gear, and a waterproof GoPro camera for added enjoyment at anchor.
Inside, the spacious saloon welcomes you with a beautiful library, a spirits cellar, and a backgammon set, recreating the maritime ambiance of traditional yachts. The open galley is fully equipped with a stove, large fridge, mini-bar, and microwave, among other amenities. The aft cabin features a starboard offset double bed, dual access from the cockpit, and its own private bathroom. The forward cabin has a large wardrobe and an en-suite shower room with an electric toilet.
REBORN is not just any sailboat. As such, it is preferably available for charter with a professional skipper or an accompanist. If you have solid sailing experience, it may be rented without a skipper after a free day of familiarization.
The professional skipper is the captain on board, responsible for the crew, and there to share his expertise. In contrast, the accompanist has no responsibility for the crew.
Half board or full board is available upon request, with your accompanist serving as your cook :). Menus are planned in advance with the client before the cruise.
