Great experience
Fantastic half day private charter down the Algarve coast to Bengali cave. Miguel and Alisia were great hosts. We were a party of 6 couples. Would highly recommend!
Albufeira is a city located in the south of Portugal in the Algarve region, between the western coast of the country and the city of Faro. It’s a beautiful fishing village in a contrasting landscape of rugged cliffs with sandy beaches and white houses. Albufeira is well known for sailing and boating because of the different nautical activities available. Indeed, from snorkelling and fishing to dolphin watching and practising wakeboarding, Albufeira has everything anyone would need for a fantastic holiday under the sun. If you want to enjoy the town, it has quite a number of terraces, restaurants and great nightlife too!
Portugal has good weather all year round and quite elevated temperatures compared to many neighbouring countries in Europe. The best weather is during the summer in the high season during the months of July and August. But we recommend visiting Albufeira at another time of the year as a lot of tourists visit during that period of the year.
The best time to visit would be in spring or fall. These seasons have great temperatures and you will be a lot less bothered by other visitors. Renting a boat will be easier too with more availability!
Prices for boat hire in Portugal may differ depending on the type of boat but also its size and other external factors. Indeed, renting a catamaran or large motorboat can come a lot more expensive than hiring a smaller sailboat. You will also have to look at extra costs such as fuel if it is not included in the price or a skipper if you need one.
The price will also change when the demand is higher. This is why we recommend that you hire a boat in the low season.
If you want to hire a boat smaller than 15 meters long and with a maximum speed of 12km/h you will not need a boating certificate. Make sure you look at local laws and regulations before hiring a yacht. It is always better to have the proper skills and certifications for renting a boat.
If you don’t have the requirements, you can still hire a boat with a skipper who will drive the boat and show you around the town’s best spots.
